The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from Holy Thursday evening to Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery.
The celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil.
Following are Assumption's scheduled 2024 Triduum events: -
Holy Thursday, April 17
No morning Mass allowed
We recall in tender fashion what the Lord did for us the night before He died.
Solemn Mass of the Lord's Supper
6:00 PM
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Procession with the Blessed Sacrament from the church to the chapel. Adoration follows immediately in the chapel for one hour.
Good Friday, April 18
No Mass allowed today
Fasting - ages 18 to 59
Abstinence - beginning age 14
The Way of the Cross
12:00 NOON
Celebration of the Lord's Passion
6:00 PM
Service includes:
- Reading (or singing) of St. John's Passion
- Veneration of the Cross
- Holy Communion
Holy Saturday, April 19
There will be no afternoon/evening confessions this day.
Easter Baskets will be blessed at 12:00 Noon.
Solemn Easter Vigil Mass
6:00 PM (This Mass serves as an Easter Sunday Mass.)
Service includes:
- Service of Light
- Liturgy of The Word
- Blessing of Easter Water
- Reception of Converts
- Renewal of Baptismal Vows
- Celebration of The Eucharist
